Tomorrow is Hat Day!
Today we had our first Practice Lockdown. It was difficult for some of our students as they were afraid of the concept. We practiced a few times before the practice and went over the expectations. We talked about it is okay to feel afraid. Our Kindergarten students did a wonderful job of following the protocol while they waited patiently for the Policeman to come and talk to them. Well done !
Ask me where was our Lockdown spot in the classroom.
Today we practiced sounding out words and matching our writing with our pictures.
Ask me to read my story to you and explain my illustration
We have started reading a few words and some of the Kindergarten writers wanted to use these words in their stories.
Ask me to sound out the letters, stretch them and read the word.
We read these words together and tried to put these together to make sense.
Read these to me and ask me which one makes sense.
I go and my dad
I can see you.
am will to in on
I can play with you.
I can play with mom and dad.
Point to a word, a letter and a number.
Ask me to explain....
Today we also reviewed the shapes again and practiced making different shapes with pattern blocks and identifying the names.
Some students were very creative they did not follow any picture and made their own beautiful creations!
We talked about how 2 trapezoids make a hexagon. Ask me to explain.
Look at Hunter W. creation and tell me your thoughts.
Keith made a city with houses.
Wyatt made a chair Omer said he created a pattern
what is his pattern? A dinosaur by Hunter W.
Enjoy reading our stories!
Thanks,
Mrs. Malik
